Expert Dryer Repair
Service In Baltimore, MD

A stacked washer and dryer laundry center squeezed into a hallway closet, a tight install Doctor Maintenance works in on Baltimore, MD dryer repair calls

Dryer repair in Baltimore is the work of diagnosing why a clothes dryer has stopped heating, quit spinning, or started taking two cycles to dry a load, then fixing it so laundry day moves again. It's one of the most common appliance repairs we do, because a dryer earns its keep every week, and the parts that wear, the belt, the element, the rollers, and the thermostats, are jobs we know cold.

A factory-certified technician comes to your home with a multimeter, tests the heat circuit and the drive system on the spot, and gives you one flat repair price to approve before anything comes apart. We handle gas and electric dryer repair across all major brands, front load and top load, stacked laundry centers included, throughout Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and the surrounding Maryland counties every weekday.

Gas and electric, stacked or full size, on weekday appointments across Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

What we fix

Common Dryer
Problems We Fix

A failing dryer tells you what is wrong in one of about six ways, and each symptom points at a short list of parts. The likely cause sits under each one.

A front-load laundry unit built into a narrow cabinet nook, a common washer and dryer setup in Baltimore, MD homes

No heat at all

Clothes come out cold and damp after a full cycle. On an electric dryer it's usually a blown heating element or thermal fuse; on a gas dryer it's often the igniter or gas valve coils. We test the heat circuit and tell you what's really going on.

Won't spin or start

The drum sits still while the motor hums, or nothing happens when you press start. That points to a snapped drum belt, a failed motor, a worn idler pulley, or a tripped door switch. We trace it to the part.

Takes two cycles to dry

Everything still feels damp and you run it again. That long-dry problem is almost always restricted airflow: a clogged lint screen, a packed vent, a weak blower wheel, or a tired heating element working at half strength.

Loud, grinding, or squealing

A thumping, squealing, or grinding dryer usually means worn drum rollers, a failing bearing, a stretched belt, or a loose blower wheel. We quiet it down before the noise turns into a breakdown.

Shuts off mid-cycle

A dryer that stops partway through and goes cold is often a failing thermal fuse, a bad thermostat, or a moisture sensor reading wrong. We find why it’s cutting out instead of finishing the load.

Error code or no power

A flashing error code or a dryer that's completely dead can be the control board, the door switch, the line cord, or a tripped breaker behind the wall. We diagnose the electronics and the connection both.

If the drum turns and the clothes come out cold, our guide to a dryer not heating covers the gas and electric parts to check, and the vent behind most of them.

If the washer beside it is acting up too, washer and dryer repair is one call here: we handle washer repair in Baltimore on the same weekday schedule, and dishwasher repair in Baltimore when the kitchen is the problem instead.

Inside the repair

What A Dryer Diagnosis
Actually Checks

A dryer diagnosis checks six systems in order: heat, safety thermostats, drum and drive, airflow and venting, moisture and controls, and door and power. A factory-certified tech works through all six to find the real cause behind the symptom.

A Doctor Maintenance technician with a cordless driver and tool bag, working on the electrical connection behind an appliance in a Baltimore, MD home

Heat system

The heating element or gas igniter and valve coils, the part that actually warms the air and the first stop on any no-heat call.

Safety and thermostats

The thermal fuse, high-limit thermostat, and cycling thermostat that regulate temperature and shut the dryer down when it overheats.

Drum and drive

The drum belt, motor, idler pulley, and drum rollers that turn the drum and are behind most won’t-spin and noisy-dryer problems.

Airflow and venting

The blower wheel, lint screen housing, and vent path that move hot, moist air out, the usual cause of a dryer that takes two cycles.

Moisture and controls

The moisture sensor, timer, and main control board that decide when a load is done and tell the dryer what to do.

Door and power

The door switch, line cord, and electrical connections that let the dryer start and run, behind many no-power and dead-dryer calls.

Worth fixing?

Should You Repair Or
Replace Your Dryer?

Most of the time, repair is the smarter spend. A typical clothes dryer in a Baltimore, MD home lasts about 10 to 13 years with a clean vent and regular use. If yours is in that range and the fix runs less than half the price of a comparable new unit, repair almost always wins. Belts, elements, thermostats, and rollers are common, cost-effective parts that add years of life to a dryer that's otherwise sound.

  • Under 8 years old? Repair is usually the clear call.
  • Common part like a belt or element? A reasonable fix beats a new dryer every time.
  • Motor gone on a 14-year-old dryer? We'll tell you when replacing makes more sense.

This service was part of American h Home Warranty Company. American home Warranty was straightforward to deal with, and took care of everything themselves. The technician they sent was very polite, professional, and knew exactly how to fix my problem. I would recommend American home Warranty to anyone looking for a warranty to cover the things inside your house like your refrigerator, dishwasher, washer, dryer, hot water tank, etc

Unfortunately I have had a very bad experience with this company. They were assigned by my home warranty company to fix a problem that I have with my washer and dryer machine. In the first visit the technician had an accident and drop water on my floor that was not waterproof l. The floor got damaged with bubbles around the machine. still I let them continue doing their work and in the second visit the technician scratched so deeply the washing machine. I contacted the company bc they must take responsibility for the damage done to my property things but so far things doesn’t look good. I will update my review in a couple days to let you know how things are going with this company.

Worst experience I have lately with any maintenance service provider. If I had an option, I would give -5 (Negative 5). I am questioning the authenticity of 4.5 reviews from 192 reviews or may be their recent service has been bad. Here are issues: 1> Choice Home warranty assigned to them. They were supposed to come on Nov 5th. Nobody came. 2> When I followed up they said - it is not scheduled there is a disconnect between our system and LG's system or not sure whose system. I called and waiting time was 30+ minutes. 3> After technician came to resolve issue. He said within 24 to 48 hours it will be approved. It was November 7th. 4> On Nov 11th, I called and inquired after few days with Doctor Maintenance. They said part is being ordered but we don't know when will come. Let us follow up. I received a message that it is not approved. Between 11th and 18th - I called multiple times and nobody is picking up phone. 5> After few more days - on November 18th, I contacted Choice Home Warranty. They said they have not received any diagnostics from technician. We will follow up. While I thought, issue will be resolved in 1-2 weeks. Even after 17 days, my dryer is not working. (After assigning Doctor Maintenance on Nov 4th, it is 15 days.

Baltimore Dryer Repair,
Answered

How much does dryer repair cost in Baltimore?

Dryer repair in Baltimore starts at $100, which covers the visit and a full diagnosis from a skilled tech. On a quick fix, that's all you pay. If a part needs replacing, you get one flat repair price to approve before any work, almost always far less than buying a new dryer. Special-order parts get an exact quote from our office first. The full breakdown is on our appliance repair cost page.

How do I fix a dryer that won’t heat up?

A dryer that won't heat is almost always a failed heating part or a blocked vent. On an electric dryer it's commonly a blown heating element or a tripped thermal fuse; on a gas dryer it's often the igniter, the flame sensor, or the gas valve coils. A clogged vent can also overheat the dryer and trip a safety part so it runs cold. A factory-certified tech tests the heat circuit, finds the failed part, and you get a flat repair price to approve before any work begins.

What causes a dryer to stop spinning?

A dryer that won't spin is most often a broken drum belt, which lets the motor hum while the drum stays still. It can also be a failed drive motor, a worn idler pulley, or a door switch that isn't telling the dryer it's safe to run. We diagnose which it is, since a belt and a motor are very different repairs, and price it before we start.

Why is my dryer taking two cycles to dry clothes?

Long dry times almost always mean restricted airflow. A clogged lint screen, a packed vent line, a weak blower wheel, or a heating element working at half strength all make a dryer run and run without finishing. It wastes energy and runs up your bill, and a blocked vent is also a fire risk. We find the restriction and the worn part both, so the next load dries in one cycle.

Is it worth repairing my dryer or should I replace it?

Most of the time, repair is the smarter spend, especially when the dryer is under about eight years old and the fix runs less than half the price of a comparable new unit. Common parts like belts, elements, thermostats, and rollers are straightforward repairs that add years of life. We give you an honest assessment so you can decide without pressure, and our repair-or-replace quiz walks you through it in about a minute.

How long do dryers usually last?

A typical clothes dryer runs about 10 to 13 years with regular use and a clean vent. If yours is in that range and the repair is reasonable, fixing it usually beats replacing it. If it's much older and the motor or several parts have failed at once, we'll tell you when replacement makes more sense.

What is the most common reason a dryer stops working?

Restricted airflow and a failed heat part are the two most common reasons a dryer stops working properly. A clogged lint screen or a packed vent line makes the dryer run long and overheat, which trips a thermal fuse or a high-limit thermostat and leaves you with a drum that turns and clothes that come out cold. Worn drum rollers and a stretched belt come next, and those usually show up as noise well before the dryer quits. Dryers are one of our most common calls, so a tech checks these parts first.

Do you repair washers and dryers?

Yes, we repair both. Washer and dryer repair are core services here, so a laundry pair acting up is one company to call. Washing machine repair follows the same model as dryer repair: $100 for the visit and a full diagnosis, one flat repair price you approve before any work, and a 60-day warranty on parts and labor. Mention both appliances when you book so we know what the visit involves.

What dryer brands do you repair?

Every major brand. A dryer shares the same core parts no matter the manufacturer, so brand is rarely the obstacle. We're factory certified for LG and GE, and we service everyday names like Whirlpool, Samsung, Maytag, KitchenAid, and Frigidaire, plus Electrolux, Bosch, and Speed Queen, alongside high-end and built-in laundry units.

Do you repair both gas and electric dryers?

Yes, both. The drum, belt, rollers, and controls are similar across the two, but the heat source is different: an electric dryer uses a heating element, and a gas dryer uses an igniter and gas valve. Our techs are experienced on each, and we handle stacked laundry-center dryers and front-load units as well.

My dryer makes a loud noise. What is wrong?

A loud dryer is usually a worn moving part. A squeal often points to a stretched belt or a dry idler pulley, a thumping or grinding usually means worn drum rollers or a failing bearing, and a rattle can be a loose blower wheel or something caught in the drum. Running it noisy only wears the part faster, so it's worth a look before it quits entirely.

Do you warranty your dryer repairs?

Yes. Every repair carries a 60-day warranty on parts and labor. If the same problem comes back, we make it right. Our diagnostic guarantee is just as simple: if we find nothing wrong with your dryer, you get your $100 back.

How quickly can you get out for a dryer that quit?

Usually the next available weekday, often within 48 hours. We run scheduled appointments Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, with windows that work around your day. Tell us what the dryer is doing when you book and we'll fit you in as soon as we can.

How do I schedule dryer repair in Baltimore?

Two ways. Book online through our scheduling page and pick a weekday window, or call or text (443) 678-8144 and a real local person in Baltimore County sets it up. You get the $100 visit price up front, and a flat repair price to approve before any work starts.
